Some lovely works that I've :+fav: recently.

Hello, all!

It's been quite a while since I've updated here. School has been keeping me away from my art supplies as of late, but I've been trying to find time to get some drawing in, even if it's only a half hour of work at a time. My current project (besides my long to-do list of ACEOs) is a pastel piece on black paper. I'm making it an outer space piece, and so far I love the freedom that this drawing has given me. I hope to post it up here when it's completed.

As you all know, November is approaching fast. For most of you, that means another month closer to December (and Christmas! :santa:), but for me, November brings along unimaginable amounts of stress and, of course, writing. NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, where you are challenged to write a 50,000 word novel in a mere thirty days. I start on Friday, banging out 1,667 words every day to meet goal. It's tough, and slightly insane, but immensely rewarding in the end.

This year, I was inspired by the writings of both John Green and Julie Ann Peters, two young adult novelists. The working title for the novel is Finding Kyle, telling the story of a  girl named Callie who spends a summer at a lake house. She meets another girl named Kyle, who changes her life dramatically. Kyle is mysterious and reckless and altogether the opposite of Callie, but that's what attracts them together. They start a romance which is tragically cut short when Kyle passes. But Kyle left Callie clues, leading her to discover who Kyle really was and offer her a sense of closure. My novel is about finding out who people really are and dealing with grief.

Synopsis:

Calliope Parkinson has never gone looking for adventure. A summer at her grandmother's lake house sounded as boring and, well, normal as any summer could get.

But that was before Kyle.

The ever mysterious, gorgeous, reckless Kyle single-handedly uproots Callie's life in a matter of one night. Determined to complete a bucket list, Kyle steals Callie in the dead of night to embark on her spontaneous campaign.

When the all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Callie discovers that the girl Kyle was is not what she thought. But Kyle has left her clues designed specifically for her that will unlock what Callie is sure will be a worthwhile mystery.

If you'd like to follow my project or add me as a friend, my username on the NaNoWriMo website is ohsostarryeyed. Wish me luck for next month!

Hey, I wish you luck with your story!

(I was thinking of doing NaNoWriMo this year but decided against it because I'm taking an AP class for the first time. At the last second I will probably decide to do a slightly less challenging challenge. 35,000-40,000 words maybe. If I can manage that I'll have to do the real challenge next year.)
